August 28th-PTA Meeting and Parent University

August 31st- School Picture Day

September 1st/ Half Day for students. Dismissal is 11:00am

September 18, 19, 20th / Swimming Lessons. Permission slip has been sent home. Students need to wear bathing suit under clothes to school.

 Pack your towel, underwear, & flip flops in a small tote bag or plastic bag each day.

Welcome to 3rd grade!!!! I am looking forward to meeting each of you during Open House, August 3, 2015. To help things run smoothly, please send me an email with the following information:

·        Student’s name in the subject line

·        Mom’s name and preferred email

·        Dad’s name and preferred email

·        Let me know how your child will get home on the first day of school (bus, Extended Day, car, van, walker, etc.). If you are unsure of the bus name/number, I will post directions below.

As our lunch is at 12:10, daily, we will have a morning snack each day. PLEASE send a healthy snack daily. Students will be allowed to have a water bottle on their desk.

 

In order to determine the bus that your child will ride this year you may follow the directions listed by entering your street address.

·        Go to Madison City District Website

·        Click on Transportation

·        Click on Bus Routes

·        Then click on BUS STOP SEARCH

·        Type the name of your street (without using Street, Drive, etc.)

·        The bus number and approximate time of arrival should be displayed. J

1.The following website is a wonderful resource for your children.  It has plenty of useful and fun games.  When you go to the website, the student will log on as guest and type millcreek.

2. We are now working on keyboarding skills in our classroom.  These are some great websites students can use at home.

3. Our Reading(Wonders) and Math(Envision) textbook can also be accessed online. Go to Mill Creek’s website page. You will see the icons on the right side of the page. EVERY student should know how to access their Reading or Math textbooks online. We have practiced this together and they take test online through these websites.

4. Successmaker- The students can access this online through the mill creek website or you can load the VMware on your computer. (These steps are found under the Madison City district website, click on students) The directions are as follows.

VMWare View Client download –


To set up access to your school virtual desktop on your home computer:
·       Click on the “VMWare View Client download” link above.
·       Click the “View Client for ______” link so you may download the client program onto your computer.  There are downloads available for both Windows and Mac devices.  (To download the client onto a mobile device, go to the App Store and install the VMWare View Client.)
·       Click the “Go to Downloads” link beside the correct product for your type of computer.
·       Click the “Download” button and run the installation.
·       When asked for the Default View Connection Server, enter: view.madisoncity.k12.al.us.  Leave other settings as they are.
*** This is a one-time setup process.  After this is complete, whenever you want to access your school desktop on the computer, just double-click on the “VMware View Client” icon on your desktop, enter your school username and password, and connect.  You may install the client on as many computers as you like.

Wax Museum and Important Dates!  

Dates to Remember:

·        January 27: PE Bowling Field Trip. All money is due by January 20

·        February 4: Hero Reports are due. Directions & important information were sent home Friday, Jan. 9th. Let me know if there are any questions.

·        February 9: Third Grade Wax Museum, 5:00-6:15 pm

Ø Students need to be here by 4:30. We will meet in our room. Parents may wait in the cafeteria until our museum opens at 5:00 pm.

Ø PTA starts at 6:00 pm. 3rd grade will also perform after PTA.

·        February 13: ½ Day for students. Dismissal at 11:00. Valentine’s Day/Exchange – look under “forms” for an updated class list

·        February 16: No School- Presidents Day Holiday

We have a busy month ahead of us!! 

The tests for Unit 3 Week 5 will be Friday, January 16th.  Please note that the newsletter is for this week and next.  I am doing review lessons for the first few days we are back from Christmas break.

Curriculum Night- August 26, 2013  

We had an exciting first week of school!! The students worked hard and are learning their new routine. You will receive your first newsletter next week. I will discuss MANY things Monday night at Curriculum Night. It begins at 5:30. I will have an agenda to discuss and then take any questions you might have. If you cannot make it, I will email you the agenda and you can email any questions you might have.
