Spelling Bee

I will have 2 winners from each of my reading blocks.  These 8 winners will compete in the Mill Creek Spelling Bee in January to represent the 6th grade.  We will be having our class spelling bee December 6th and 7th.  Please encourage your children to use the resources in the "Links" to prepare for the spelling bee! J

Space Camp Information

6th grade parents:

If you are interested in your child attending Space Camp this spring, please carefully read and follow the instructions on the attached registration letter.  You will want to keep a copy of that letter for future reference (dates and payments) if you choose for your child to attend.

If you decide to register your student please send in all three forms with your initial payment (I will not register a student until all forms have been received).  Be sure the overnight permission form is notarized (Mrs. Deberry, our bookkeeper, can do that for you in the front office if you do not have more convenient access to a notary).

Thank you for your interest and cooperation—

**Forms are under "Forms" section

Homework!

I wanted to let everyone know that I will stop posting homework on my website every week. I feel like the students are understanding our normal routine in reading.  Students will still be required to write all homework assignments in their planners, so be sure to check it daily.  Also, please reinforce the importance of writing down every assignment, writing it neatly, and in an organized manner.

Please note every five weeks we will take a Theme test.  This is a comprehensive test that will test knowledge of skills we have been learning for the 5 previous weeks.  Next week will be our 1st Theme test, 10/3/12.

Echalk

http://www.echalk.co.uk/

Echalk is a wonderful online tool that includes interactive models, educational games, and simulations. It's designed specifically for use on an interactive whiteboard, but works on any desktop computer. Our PTA has paid for a subscription for our whole school! We want students to take advantage of this subscription both at home and school.

United for the Community

THIS FRIDAY NIGHT, the BJHS cheerleaders along with the JCHS cheerleaders are going to "Unite" their efforts and help Inside-Out Ministries with a Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive.  We are hoping “United for the Community” will become an annual event for us to show the community that the students/fans of both schools can, in the middle of a rival game, come together for good cause.

The cheerleaders are asking that Bob Jones Fans bring a jar of Peanut Butter and James Clemens Fans bring Jelly TO THE GAME.  Each school will have a drop off location, in front of the main entrance of the stadium for fans to put their jars of peanut butter or jelly.

So please help us spread the word and UNITE for the community!  Attached you will find a picture of our Madison City senior cheerleaders leading the way!

Here is an article from the Madison Record.
