My name is Terrie Duke. I graduated from the University of Maryland with Master's Degree in Early Childhood Special Education and was inducted into Pi Kappa Phi, the honor society for high achieving education students. I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Auburn University (War Eagle!!), a handy degree for the fifteen years we spent living in Europe. Additionally, I attended Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama for two years, having earned a debate scholarship allowing me to participate in collegiate tournaments. I have nine years of teaching experience in several different school systems. I pursued my Master's Degree after several years of working as an aide in special education classes. The University of Maryland maintained a College Park faculty in Heidelberg, Germany in order to provide Master's level training for teachers working in international schools and Department of Defense Schools in Europe. I was fortunate to be living in a nearby community, Glan-Munchweiler, which was close enough to allow me to attend classes. It was a wonderful experience!! I live in Owens Crossroads, Alabama with my family. My husband, Jim, and I have been married for 35 years and have raised four wonderful children, Bryan, Shannon, Alyson, and Aaron. We love animals and also spoil two dogs, May and Elli and two cats, Salem and Toonces. We are an army family and have been making the adjustment to living in one place for a while since my husband's retirement from the army in 2004. We are fortunate to have our children living at home or close to home. Bryan works at Redstone Arsenal, Shannon is a teacher in Rome, Georgia, and Alyson and Aaron are students at UAH. We attend church in Albertville, Alabama at Christ Lutheran Church. Our life has been wonderful, touring Europe and now we can enjoy keeping the family close in Huntsville. My leisure activities include crocheting, embroidering, knitting and sewing for my great niece, Caylee. My husband and I also enjoy exercising together and travelling, can't wait for our next trip!!
