So far, I have had the privilege to teach at two schools in our system, West Madison (8 years) and Mill CreeK (2009-present).

It has been an honor and blessing to teach for one of the greatest school systems in Madison County!

I am so delighted to be your child's teacher this school year!

My name is Shemeaka King and my family and I reside in Madison, AL.  I am originally from Jasper, AL (born and raised).  I have two sisters, one identical twin, who lives here in Madison (so you may see her aroundJ) and one that is two years younger that lives in my hometown of Jasper, Al.  I am the very proud mother of four children, two biological children, Cameron, age 9, is in 4th grade here at Mill Creek and Corey age 13, attends Liberty Middle, 8th grade and plays basketball.  My two step children ages 15, Curt II, attends James Clemmons and Brittni age 18, who recently graduated from James Clemmons.  I am BLESSED to be married to a wonderful husband name Curt.  We celebrated 10 years of marriage on June 2, 2016 J  I love and cherish my family very much.

My hobbies include spending time with family, friends, going to the beach, going on dates with my husband and SHOPPING! I recently found a new love for reading motivation/ spiritual books and exercising.

My motto in life is "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).

I started my teaching career as a 2nd grade teacher at a Christian private school, in which I taught for two years, 1999-2001.  From Fall 2001- Spring 2013 I taught kindergarten in the magnificent district of Madison City for 12 years.  Currently, I am teaching 2nd grade and began teaching 2nd in the fall of 2013.  I am starting my 16th year of teaching. J

I graduated with both a B.S. degree (Early and Elementary Education) and two Masters Degrees (Elementary and Instructional Leadership) from Alabama A&M University. Currently I am making plans to begin my EDS in Instructional Leadership.

My educational philosophy is that every child requires love and patience when being taught.  I believe that teachers should strive to incorporate effective teaching strategies  in order for students to become successful learners.  I also believe that both parents and teachers play a vital role in making sure children have the best school experience ever!

I absolutely love teaching and I am looking forward to an outstanding school year!
