Principal’s Corner

August 11, 2014

What a great opening to the 2014-15 school year! I have loved every minute of it! It has been equally fun getting to meet so many new students to Mill Creek from a variety of states and countries ranging from Chicago, Illinois and Houston, Texas to Saudi Arabia and China. This diversity is what makes Mill Creek so unique and rich in culture. Our enrollment is now at 870.

I want to thank you for your patience in the car line. We had made some changes to the design of morning drop off and it seems to be going extremely well. Also, afternoon departure will continue to speed up as students become familiar with the routine as well as their car numbers.

The curriculum nights have been scheduled for different days and times and was sent out last week and posted on our website. This will be a perfect opportunity for you to ask questions and learn more about your child’s education. I will also be giving a brief presentation at the PTA Meeting on Monday, August 18, and providing you with school-wide results from last year.

Our first PTA Meeting is scheduled for August 18 at 6:00. This meeting will allow us to showcase the clubs and organizations offered at Mill Creek. Display boards will be set up all around the lunchroom for you to tour. Also, students will report on the clubs as well as the design and offerings of each one.   Please come out and support our Parent-Teacher Association.

We have received a great response back from our “Career Connection” Surveys that were distributed during Orientation Night. (see attached) As we begin building our STEM Program and expanding our Outdoor Learning Laboratory, we hope to utilize our greatest resource, OUR PARENTS! In October, we will host an entire night dedicated to STEM. More information will be coming your way in the upcoming weeks.

GRANDPARENTS DAY- “Muffins and Memories”

We will be celebrating Grandparents Day during the week of September 8th. We will host our first ever, Muffins and Memories. This will be a special time to have our Grandparents and Grandfriends visit our classrooms and share a favorite memory or story with our students. More information will be coming.

On Wednesday, our building will be full of Bob Jones Football players who will be making a special trip to our school to read to our Pre-K students. Pre-K Students will be encouraged to wear their Bob Jones colors.

Thank you so much for allowing us to share our days with your children. We have the best job ever!
