Counselor

Welcome Back Mill Creek Family,

I am excited about another wonderful year at Mill Creek as your guidance counselor. Together, our school will continue to form a community for all that encompasses our six pillars of character. Our effort is for all students, faculty, and stakeholders to exemplify Fairness, Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Trustworthy, and Citizenship in our school and in our community.

As our school continues to grow, we hope to create an environment where everyone feels that they belong and are comfortable to learn. Each student and member of our faculty and staff will belong to an assigned House! This membership lasts throughout his/her time at Mill Creek. We also have families of 15-18 individuals that are led by a House Mom or Dad. Your family will be made up of students amongst all grade levels. It is a joy to see students and teachers throughout our building build relationships with one another and invest in the learning and growth that takes place in each individual throughout our school.

My work as your school counselor is to be intentional. Your students growth academically, emotionally, socially, and beyond is not taken lightly. As a team, I will continue to work with our administration, faculty, community, and a Guidance Advisory Committee to offer accountability and guidance in the best use of our efforts and reaching our students.

I desire to work to be proactive in my approach to reach the greatest number of students at one time. As I follow our adopted state guidance curriculum and American School Counselor Association National Model, I will be working in classroom guidance once a month for our students. I am also available on an individual basis to speak to students that may need to report bullying, mediate a conflict with a friend, share exciting news, discuss grief or loss, learn new skills, or just need a listening ear. Student may see me by asking a teacher for permission during, before, or after school. Students and parents may use my email address to communicate with me as well as my phone number through Mill Creek.

Students and Parents have access to me for a number of needs that will arise throughout the school year. I have my email available to me constantly and suggest you communicate first through email to make sure I am in my office or available to meet. I respect a student’s voice to be heard and will work to build their trust. I make sure students are aware that I cannot keep confidentiality if his/her conversation involves hurting themselves, someone hurting him or her, or the threat to harm another. I work to create a safe environment for students to feel comfortable. After years of experience, my goal is to be a safe place for students to express themselves and seek out guidance and support.

There are great memories to be made this year and I look forward to being a part of your child’s time at Mill Creek! Please keep in touch with how you would best like to be involved. Together, we will work to keep our school working as best as possible.
